Why does the skin become dehydrated?
The skin becomes dehydrated when it lacks water. Unlike dry skin, which is a skin type, dehydration is a temporary condition that can affect all skin types, even oily skin.
This phenomenon is often linked to a compromised skin barrier. This barrier, located on the skin’s surface, retains moisture and protects against external aggressors. When it is weakened, water evaporates more easily, leading to a feeling of discomfort, tightness and a duller complexion.
Several factors can cause this loss of hydration:
